The 17th gate in Human Design is located in the Ajna Center of making sense of patterns and it is associated with the sign of Aries in the Tropical system. Its opposite is gate 18 (Libra sign), located in the Spleen Center of Intuitive awareness.
Opinions, opinions
The 17th gate relates to opinions, and how opinions shape our world’s perspective. Opinions can be detrimental or inclusive. The moment they become detrimental is when we become attached to our opinions, this is when the Aries spark no longer cares about the other because it is defensive of its justifications.
The 17TH and 18th duality
Being inclusive is what reveals the magic of Aries because it embraces its opposite (18th gate - Libra), which shines its warrior quality in the service of the collective, one of the mechanics of the 17-62 channel.
When the 17th gate sees its role of looking at the bigger picture, it understands that all opinions are valid and therefore it can serve others because there is understanding of everybody’s patterns and what must be expressed.
Its opposite (gate 18) is concerned with judgement, like a sword cutting through what isn't essential. If it’s detrimental, the knife of the sword can be too lethal, whether that is towards others or yourself, here perfection becomes mixed up with harmony.
Harmony involves integration, which reveals that everything is already perfect, and that living in integrity is to rely on others to master that harmony and perfection.
when you meet opposition
Consider how do you stand in the light of your opinions when you encounter those that do not agree with you.
I like to add a personal keynote and that is “Caring” because, to care requires intentional action. Caring involves the other. It might not be a word often used with Aries but this is the point of this sign in this gate and duality combination.

Gift is a higher vibration which unlocks the potential of the gate, and Siddhi is the highest awareness vibration.
