When I struggle to understand a text, I always look not only to its meaning but also its etymology, the root of a word says a lot about its real description.
READING IN A LANGUAGE DIFFERENT FROM YOURS
Sometimes I give myself a hard time for not being able to devour a book as quick and then I take a chill pill reminding myself that not only am I digesting content that needs repetition, cycles and experiences to sink in, but also they're in a total different language.
Spanish is my mother tongue, derived from latin. English sometimes is interpreted by me translating in my head, or completely diving into the language and then not being able to translate it back to Spanish immediately.
don’t stick to what you’re being told
Concepts from systems like Human Design that use ancient language from Oriental wisdom can be hard to swallow even for English speaking natives, so consider this if you speak more than one language: Instead of focusing on what Ra or the person is trying to say, focus on the transmission of the words and the etymology of the language being used. Don't stick to the keynotes provided only because they're meant to be used but also once you know what they mean, give yourself the time to associate them to what you know and use this language instead until the original language provided makes complete sense to you.
Esoterics are far beyond a language barrier, the origin of words give roots to a whole world of concepts and meanings, so bear in mind that if you're studying a system in a foreign language you're a not only getting new information, you're also creating new pathways to build your own version of what these words mean in your psyche.
language through the lens of PRESERVATION
This reminds me of the gate 32. In Gene Keys' state of consciousness this gate has the Gift of PRESERVATION. Ra talked about this gate using the example of indigenous people being exposed to inventions before they understood their evolutionary process during colonization, and this experience made them skip their own evolutionary steps to progress. Especially since they already had systems and had to change into these new ones all of the sudden.
When you're learning in a different language you're accepting what is given to you and not what your mind builds based on experience. So when you're approaching esoteric systems and their language which is very nuanced and different from the common slang used in every day life, I encourage you to give meanings to these new words in your native language, so that you preserve where you come from and where you're going and in that way these two languages meet in the middle. When you adapt rather than change, you give yourself permission to evolve rather than dismiss your previous software. Remember these systems are a language on its own.
NUANCES IN BOOKs AND TRANSLATIONS
You can see in books like Women Who Run with Wolves, concepts like 'The one who knows' and 'La que sabe' (which are both the same, one in English and the other in Spanish). If you speak Spanish you know the translation doesn't feel as mystical and congruent, 'La que sabe' has the deep nuanced energy of what the author tried to say in service of the book, whereas the english interpretation loses this flavor due to the translation, even when it is completely accurate.
So, digest with your current digestive system, don't try to change your whole biology.
Language is a big part of who you are, let yours be also in the vehicle.
xoxo, denisse.
