Turns out you were simply externalizing your intuition practice. It reminds me of the Vasalisa story in Women Who Run with The Wolves, connecting through our intuition via an external practice or thing can be an initiation process of connecting to your inner voice.

Esoterics are the talisman of our intuition, because they play a fixed story that centers us into what we find meaningful, insightful, accurate, inaccurate or challenging.
An astrological chart can be an interpretation of ourselves or the map to recognizing ourselves -or not-.
GET YOUR CHART READ BY MANY
Getting your chart read by different astrologers is so important, because the interpretation given by each is accessing different types of talismans, different sources of intuition. Having your chart read by different sources accesses different parts of our psyche; like changing the story without not really changing anything.
That's why I emphasize on doubting of any system of esoterics, because doubt centers you back to your intuition. Readings access a point where you get to tell if that is you or not, but giving all of your authority to the reader is accepting they're the only talisman, as a fragmentation pretending to be the whole piece.
THE IMPORTANCE OF A CHART AND DECISION MAKING
Again, a chart is only valid when you play it out in life, when you let it tell a story but then also let it speak when you're making life choices and living the consequences of it.
Esoterics are the talisman, because it gives you language but it doesn’t give you the experience. The experience itself can only be interpreted by you.
Remember in Inception when they would use a totem to make sure if they were asleep or awake? That's how esoterics work. They balance you, center you, but it's only during its spin where you actually access to the truth or not, before it actually stops -or when it doesn't-.
